What to Expect

It is critical to have a decision maker at the template appointment in order to answer and confirm any questions that may exist. We make every attempt to be prompt. Our template specialist will call prior to arrival so it is important that we have the preferred contact number specified in our files.

 

Please make sure all objects are removed from counters in order to allow us to reach all areas to be measured\templated.

 

When the specialist arrives, please make sure to point out all areas we are to measure.

 

Most times we center sinks and cooktops with base cabinet. If you prefer something other than that it should be clearly mentioned to the template specialist so he can note it on the template and his paperwork.

 

Before completion, please take a moment to confirm with the specialist decisions made about your material, sink, edge profile, and anything else that might be crucial to the fabrication of your countertops. Faucet, stove, cooktop, downdraft MUST be on site for installation day.

 

Please contact the office if you want to do a layout of your kitchen template on your material. Usually these are done for full kitchens with materials that have alternating flows and patterns. A layout may not be necessary for all jobs.

We will confirm the installation day and give you a 2-hour arrival window. Our installers will call on the way to the jobsite. Construction projects inevitably have unforeseen situations arise that could delay or prolong the installation process. If we are running late for any reason, we will call to inform you as soon as we are aware of the situation.

 

Installation time can vary. It is best to allow 3-6 hours for your job to be completed. It seems simple and easy, but countertop installation is an incredibly detailed process, and we want you to get the best result possible.

 

Please ensure all cabinets are level prior to our arrival. We can do minor adjustments, leveling up to ¼ inch, but anything larger than that will be the responsibility of the homeowner. 

 

Please have everything removed from the cabinet(s) under the sink and cooktop to allow for easier access.

 

We try our best to not make large cut outs inside the house, however sometimes there is no other choice due to the size and fragility of the stone. We have plastic and shop vacuums to minimize the dust, but you should expect some dust to linger. Please use sheets or plastic to cover anything you would like to protect from dust.

 

Walls may be caulked with clear or white paintable caulk. Sometimes we do not caulk areas where tile backsplash is going up since it will be hidden.

Please make sure to have your faucet at the job site at time of installation. Installers will ask you about faucet holes: how many you need and where you would like them placed.

Undermount sinks will be mounted to the countertops, drop-in sinks or cooktops will be checked for fit, but will NOT be attached in any way by our installers.

The sealant applied at the end of the installation may have a strong odor; we recommend you ventilate the area after installation is complete. Wait 12 hours to allow the granite to dry completely and return to its original color before any other step. Your granite counters should be ready to use 24 hours after sealing it. Due to the nature of natural material, some stones may need additional coats of sealer after the installation. Any additional layers of sealer will be the responsibility of the customer.
